Being home to a diverse range of people means Toronto has an array of amazing and interesting neighbourhoods. Areas with a choice of great schools, parks, shopping, restaurants, access to downtown and highways and public transit are plentiful in our great metropolis.

The downside of this, is deciding which area is best suited to you! When choosing where to live, you might want to grab a pen and paper!

First, consider what you can afford, and whether you can rent or buy. To know for sure, you may need to start at the bank and get a preapproval. Then consider what stage of life you are at. If you have kids or considering a family, it is important to consider proximity to great schools and parks. As a retiree you might focus on a turnkey condo with underground parking, easy accessibility to stores and proximity to the highway or airport. Love nightlife...perhaps the Entertainment district suits you best. Choose 2 or 3 neighbourhoods and look at what is currently on the market. Spend some time walking around the neighbourhoods you selected, pay attention to school, parks and traffic. Take stock of your lifestyle and write out pros and cons of each area that would suit you best. Watch the market and again, know what you can afford.

Still overwhelmed? A real estate professional can assist by providing insight to neighbourhoods and price history, as well as the specifics of a property. Our agents at McCann Realty come from diverse backgrounds and cultures, conducting business in 7 languages. With vast experience and range of qualifications such as luxury home and senior certifications, you are sure to find the right person to meet your needs.
